Marilyn’s Room
Marilyn’s Room is so named because a guest, upon noticing the room’s particularly plush bed head at the time, exclaimed, “Oh my, Marilyn Monroe’s room!”. It is our versatile family space, with both a 6-foot double and a single bed. With its thoughtful decor and peaceful outlook, one can lie on the bed and enjoy the moods of the river.
Sara´s Room
Light and airy, Sara’s Room is a peaceful retreat, featuring two windows that open onto the sunrise and sunset. An en-suite room, with its calm atmosphere, beautiful outlook, and the sound of birdsong drifting in through the window, it provides a quiet sanctuary for your stay.
Tudor Room
Step into a slice of history. This inviting east-facing double bedroom is rich with character anchored by a magnificent antique Tudor bed—a cherished piece brought over from England by Lynn’s father in the 1950s. The room’s warm atmosphere and peaceful outlook over our back yard garden draw the eye naturally toward the wooded landscape and the distant slopes of Derradda Hill, making it an incredibly comfortable retreat. past the historic kitchen exterior, gradually giving way to lush, native woods which lead onto Derradda Hill. Guests in this room have convenient access to our charming blue bathroom next door.
Single Room
A cosy, east-facing sanctuary, this room offers a soothing start to the day as the morning light filters in. You’ll enjoy a lovely private view over our secluded back yard, where the garden is filled with vibrant, seasonal flowers. The view extends past the historic kitchen exterior, gradually giving way to lush, native woods which lead onto Derradda Hill. Guests in this room have convenient access to our charming blue bathroom next door.
The house
Nestled at the foot of Derradda Hill, overlooking the famous Ballynahinch River, The Anglers Return was built in the 1800s as a sporting lodge, then owned by the Indian Prince and famous cricketer, the Maharajah Ranjitsinhji, and since 1954 is now the home of Lynn Hill and her family. The house is a wonderfully peaceful and charming guesthouse enhanced by the log fires and beautiful gardens. The architecture and decoration is authentic and unspoiled, with original walls and floors, low ceilings and a cottage-style ambience. Outside, the grounds are highlighted by a profusion of flowers, stone walls, beautiful river views and garden paths. Otters and seals are frequently seen in the tidal waters of the river in front of the house.
Roundstone, a lively picturesque fishing village, with many good restaurants, pubs, traditional Irish music, craft shops and galleries, is only 7 minutes away, south-west along the coast road. With wonderful beaches, the coastal area is a delight.
